How Can You Use Cannabis With More Intention in Your Life?

Cannabis historically was used to help people transcend to higher levels of consciousness. It supported connection to a higher power and helped people feel more connected to source energy. While in modern days people still use language, art, and culture to speak to the transcending effects cannabis can have, its actual use has become more commercialized — often centered around zoning out and numbing the pains and challenges of life.

And while life does come with challenges and obstacles, it’s important that we begin to become more aware of our personal relationship with the plant.

Smoking or using cannabis in other ways daily may be a part of your routine — and there is no judgment in that. But it isimportant to start questioning your intentions around daily use.

Ask yourself:

  • Are there areas in my life that need more time and attention?

  • Does my use of cannabis support me in these areas, or does it hinder me?

We all use cannabis for different reasons — pain management, sleep support, body relaxation, focus, creativity, and so much more. But often, we aren’t focused on getting down to the root of why we are using it.

Here are a few ways you can begin your journey of intentional cannabis use:

Identify the reason for your cannabis use.Ask yourself honest questions:

  • How does cannabis serve me?

  • What do I get from using cannabis?

  • Why do I reach for it?

After identifying your reason, notice what comes up. If you recognize codependency, patterns of avoidance, or misuse — and feel a desire to shift — meet that awareness with compassion, not shame.

Start simple.Begin tracking your cannabis use and how you feel before and after using it.

Incorporate other practices into your daily routine that support the feelings cannabis provides. This can look like movement, journaling, spending time with loved ones, talking things out, or simply taking intentional time for yourself doing something you enjoy.

Begin to slowly cut back if that feels aligned.Move at your own pace. Throughout this process, meet yourself with unconditional love and grace.

Continue tracking your use and your feelings.Over time, you’ll begin to notice shifts happening naturally — without force.

With more intentional use, you create space to address the areas of your life that need deeper care. Cannabis can then become more beneficial, because you’re using it as medicine rather than a habit cultivated over time without purpose or self-love.
